Respiratory Education Centre

Helps patients manage their respiratory conditions.
At St. Paul’s Hospital the Respiratory Education Centre is comprised of a multidisciplinary healthcare team that includes the patient’s primary care provider, respirologist and Respiratory Therapist/Certified Educator. The goal of the Respiratory Education Centre is to help patients acquire the knowledge and skills required to effectively manage their asthma/COPD. Patients will receive individual counselling, asthma/COPD management education and tailored treatment plans to keep patients health conditions stable, optimize quality of life and prevent exacerbations. Respiratory Therapists/Educators:
  • Perform various tests
  • Teach patients what medications do, what they are used for and when and how to effectively use their medications
  • Educate patients on how to avoid triggers that aggravate lung disorders
  • Make recommendations to make patient's lung conditions more manageable
Referral Details: Referring physician / health care providers should provide their name and contact information and signed referral form, along with any diagnosis, patient contact information and any previous pulmonary function tests. Referrals are accepted by fax.
