Peer Support - Families Affected by Substance Use

Peer support groups for families affected by substance use.
Moms Stop the Harm (MSTH) is a network of Canadian families impacted by substance-use related harms and deaths. They advocate to change failed drug policies and provide peer support to grieving families and those with loved ones who use or have used substances. The following supports are available:
  • Healing Hearts Peer Support Groups: Healing Hearts are peer lead grief support groups after the loss of a loved one from substance use related causes. The groups meet on a regular basis (most once per month), where individuals share their pain with others who have the same experience without stigma and without blame.
  • Holding Hope: Holding Hope is for families with loved ones using drugs. It provides support groups for families affected by their loved ones substance use. Holding Hope has a strong educational component to the group. A variety of guest speakers are often invited to speak with the families.
